Southwest Studies Abroad in Greece

Southwest Community standing in front of a ruin in Greece
This summer, a group of Southwest Virginia Community College students, faculty, staff, and community members embarked on an unforgettable study abroad journey through Greece, exploring some of the world's most significant historical and cultural landmarks while gaining a broader perspective on global citizenship.

The travelers experienced the vibrant energy of Athens, where ancient history and modern life blend seamlessly. Highlights included visits to the Acropolis, the Parthenon, and the Acropolis Museum, offering a firsthand look at the foundations of Western democracy, philosophy, and education.

By stepping beyond the classroom and immersing themselves in another country, participants gained valuable educational experiences that cannot be replicated through textbooks alone. The Greece program reflects Southwest Virginia Community College's commitment to expanding horizons and creating life-changing learning opportunities that prepare students for success in an increasingly global society.
