Neyia Beavers Announced as Dean of Healthcare Technologies

Cedar Bluff, VA – Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) announces the appointment of Neyia Beavers, MSN, RN, as Dean of Health Technologies, effective immediately. Dean Beavers’ appointment reflects her extensive experience in higher education and healthcare leadership, her deep commitment to student success, and her longstanding dedication to Southwest Virginia Community College and the communities it serves.

Dean Beavers brings more than 20 years of experience in nursing education, academic administration, and healthcare workforce development. She has most recently served as Interim Dean of Health Technologies, providing leadership for the division while continuing to advance program quality, accreditation excellence, and student success initiatives. Throughout her tenure at SWCC, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting faculty, enhancing educational opportunities, and preparing highly skilled healthcare professionals to meet regional workforce needs.

Prior to her appointment, Dean Beavers served as RN Program Director, Associate Professor of Nursing, and in several academic leadership positions within the Virginia Community College System. In these roles, she led multiple programs through accreditation and program review processes, strengthened relationships with healthcare partners, expanded access to healthcare education, and helped develop innovative academic pathways that support both student achievement and workforce responsiveness.

A proud graduate of Southwest Virginia Community College, Dean Beavers earned her Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from SWCC before completing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Virginia Commonwealth University and a Master of Science in Nursing Education at Old Dominion University. Her professional journey reflects a lifelong commitment to educational excellence, community service, and the advancement of healthcare education throughout Southwest Virginia.

Throughout her career, Dean Beavers has demonstrated a strong commitment to student success, faculty development, accreditation excellence, and workforce responsiveness. She has helped expand educational opportunities to meet regional healthcare workforce needs, strengthened partnerships with healthcare providers, and advanced innovative approaches that improve access to healthcare education across Southwest Virginia.

She will also play a key role in expanding educational pathways and workforce training opportunities that support the evolving healthcare needs of Southwest Virginia and the Commonwealth.
