34th Annual Scholarship Golf Classic Recap
The Southwest Virginia Community College Educational Foundation hosted the 34th Annual Scholarship Golf Classic on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Tazewell County Country Club. Thanks to generous sponsors and players, over $10,000 was raised this year to support students at the college. The long-standing tradition benefits students at the college by helping them offset tuition fees and essential costs like books and class materials.
This year's tournament honors the memory of two extraordinary champions of Southwest Virginia Community College, James "Jim" Boyd and Eugene "Gene" Hurst Jr. Through their leadership, generosity, and unwavering commitment to our community, Jim and Gene helped create opportunities for countless students and strengthened the future of our region. Their service to the college, support of the Educational Foundation, and dedication to student scholarships continue to make a lasting difference.
