If you’re already working in healthcare or emergency services and ready to take the next step, the Advanced EMT and RN Paramedic Bridge program at Southwest Virginia Community College is designed to help you move forward efficiently.
This bridge program is built for experienced professionals who want to advance to the paramedic level without starting from scratch.
Who This Program Is For
This program is open to students who already have a strong clinical foundation, including:
- Nationally Registered Advanced EMTs (AEMTs)
- Virginia‑certified EMT‑Intermediates
- Registered Nurses (RNs)
Registered Nurses must also hold Virginia EMT certification by the start of the course to be eligible.
What You’ll Gain
By completing this bridge program, you’ll be prepared to take the National Registry Paramedic examination. Successful completion makes you eligible for Paramedic licensure or certification in Virginia and most other states, opening the door to advanced roles in emergency medical services.
Why Choose a Bridge Program?
Because this program is designed specifically for experienced providers, it recognizes the knowledge and skills you already bring with you. That means your education stays focused on advancing your scope of practice and preparing you for paramedic‑level responsibilities.
Take the Next Step
If you’re ready to build on your current credentials and move into advanced emergency care, this program can help you get there.
