Focus: Critical Care

Future Goals: My future goals include passing the CRT and RRT Boards, working in a hospital close to home and being able to serve patients in critical care.

Family:  I live with my parents, I also have one sister and a nephew who is six years old.

Hobbies:  Spending time with my family and scrap-booking

Name: Melissa L. Hale

Title: Class Treasurer

Focus:  My patients, pediatrics, critical care and emergency care

Future Goals: To obtain a degree in Respiratory Therapy and use my acquired skills to benefit my patients as well as myself as a Register Respiratory Therapist

Family: My mom, dad, brother and fiancé support me in whatever I choose to do

Hobbies:  Tennis, color guard, swimming, arts and crafts

Focus: Respiratory Care

Future Goals: Become a respiratory therapist with great skills

Hobbies: Fishing, reading, and football

Name: James Allen Matney, Jr.

Focus: Respiratory Care, Mathematics (minor)

Future Goals: Broaden my mathematic skills and to become more knowledgeable in Respiratory Therapy.

Family: Its the most wonderful family consisting of my father and two sisters (Amanda, Courtney), aunt ,uncle, cousin (Jimmy)

Hobbies: All sorts of sports

Title: Historian

Focus:  I plan to specialize in sleep study

Future Goals: I want to become and RRT that possesses the knowledge, skills and patience to better care for my patients

Family: I have been happily married for four years to Jason Hale

Hobbies: Fishing, gardening, anything outdoors, and spending time with family and friends

Focus: Respiratory Care

Future Goals: I want to get a job when I get out of school and work in critical care

Family: I have a mother and father and lots of cousins

Hobbies: I like to fish, hunt, play baseball and ride 4 wheelers

Name: Carrie Donithan

Title: Vice President

Focus: To graduate this program with the knowledge and skills I need instead of being in a situation where things are beyond my control and not knowing what to do

Future Goals: To take my knowledge and skills I acquire in this program and be able to use them where I am needed.

Family: I have a husband, 2 children (Gabriel, Chase), my sister Susie which is my rock, my classmates of RTH 2008, my mother who I want to be proud of me for my father

Hobbies: Spending time with my children, and what is a hobby?

Focus: Critical and Emergency Care, I also have thought about pediatrics and neonatal care

Future Goals:  I plan on graduating from SwVCC and becoming a Registered Respiratory Therapist.

Family: My parents and grandparents are very supportive in my decisions and wish me their luck and faith I need.  They push me as much as possible to do what I should be doing.

Hobbies:  Hanging out with my fiancé Ben, bowling, and I love to write or draw.  I also like to read in my spare time.

Future Goals: To graduate from Southwest Virginia Community College and become a Registered Respiratory Therapist

Family: I still live with my mom and dad and they support me in pursuing this career as much as they can

Hobbies: Spending time with my fiancé Lacey, bowling, and golfing

Focus: I plan to work in a trauma center

Future Goals: I plan to get my BSN in Respiratory Therapy, be an RRT and be a great therapist

Family: I am happily married, have two grown children, we together have seven grandchildren

Hobbies: Singing gospel music, playing piano, 4 wheeling, photography, collecting porcelain dolls, and taking care of people like my mother

Future Goals: To graduate from SVCC and work as a Respiratory Therapist

Family: My family is very supportive of me.  My parents (David and Sherry), I also have step-parents (Priscilla and Clay) who have always treated me as their own, I also have an older brother and sister (Duane and Lisa) and one younger sister (Danielle)

Hobbies: Spending time with my family

Focus: Critical Care and patient advocate

Future Goals: Get my bachelors degree in Respiratory, and work at a hospital where patients come first

Family:  I live with my mother and son, my mother is supportive in helping me get through school.  She helps take care of my Danny while I'm at school or clinicals

Hobbies:  I enjoy spending time with my son and family, going shopping, working on hot rods, talking on the phone, and hanging out with my friends

Focus: Becoming the best respiratory therapist I can be for my patients

Future Goals: My goals for the future is to graduate from the Respiratory Care program and become a Registered Respiratory Therapist

Family: My family are very supportive of me.  My family consists of my dad and my brother, they are always there to pick me when I start to fall.  I love them very much

Hobbies:  I enjoy fishing, going to drag races, reading Historical Romance novels, listening to music and going camping

Future Goals: To be the best RRT I can be

Family: My husband Tom and my daughter Jessica

Hobbies: Boating, horse back riding

Hobbies: I really don't have much time for hobbies.  I love spending time with my family
