Narrative:

Southwest Virginia Community College (SVCC) was established as an official degree granting institution by the State Board for Community Colleges (SBCC) under the authority of enabling legislation created and approved by the Virginia General Assembly in 1966. The college opened its doors to students as a comprehensive community college in the fall of 1968.
