SWCC to Offer
Business Ethics Course
In
recent years the media
has been flooded with
lurid stories of
corporate misconduct and
felonious behavior by
business people.
The media in most cases
just scratch the surface
of many underlying
problems. This
should prompt
individuals to think
more deeply about the
nature and purpose of
business in our society
and about ethical
choices individuals must
make in their business
and professional lives.
SWCC
will be offering BUS
265, Ethical Issues in
Management, in a 10 week
series beginning April
23. The three
credit course will be
taught by Joshua Savage.
Savage has an MBA in
International Business
with extensive
experience in the
corporate world
including serving on the
Ethics Committee for
Sentara Health System in
Norfolk, Virginia.
This
course will encourage
individuals to reflect
on their own values and
on their responses to
hard moral choices that
the world of business
can pose. It will
provide a better
understanding of the
moral, social and
economic environments in
which unethical problems
occur and introduce
participants to the
ethical concepts
relevant for resolving
problems. In
addition the course will
assist participants in
developing necessary
reasoning and analytical
skills for resolving
unethical issues.
