southwest or western Virginia and you want to market your products and/or
services to federal, state, and local government agencies the Procurement
Technical Assistance Center offers services to assist you.
PTAC Mission
The
Procurement Technical Assistance Center’s purpose is to provide specialized
and professional assistance to individuals and businesses seeking to sell,
or currently selling, their goods or services to the Department of Defense,
other federal agencies, state, and local governments. This specialized and
professional assistance may consist of, but is not limited to, bid match
service, outreach, training, and counseling services as described in the
PTAC brochure.
PTAC Goal
The Center’s goal is to
generate employment and improve the economy of southwestern and western
Virginia by assisting business firms in their efforts to obtain and perform
under federal, state, and local government contracts.
PTAC Funding
The PTAC is
funded by a partnership agreement with Southwest Virginia Community College
and the U. S. Department of Defense, Defense Logistics Agency. The PTAC has
also partnered with our service regions’ community colleges consortium:

PTAC Services
Bid-Match services:
The PTAC offers a computerized Bid Matching Service
to locate federal, state and local bid opportunities pertinent to your
business. Bid Matches are based on a profile of your company’s
capabilities, products and services. The PTAC counselor will assist you
in defining these criteria.
The PTAC can assist Virginia businesses in the following areas:
GSA Schedules & GSA Advantage
Understanding and applying Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
Getting registered to do business with the government
The language and basic understanding of contracting
Small business certifications, including 8a, HUBZone, and Small
Disadvantaged Business
Matching and marketing your product or service to the appropriate
government agencies
Interpretation of solicitation (bid match) and assistance with the
bidding and proposal process
Follow-up assistance with pre and post contract award procedures
