Wonderlic

SwVCC offers several classes and programs which do no require a high school diploma or GED.  To assist individuals with placement in these areas, the College has selected the Wonderlic to help assess readiness and determine ability to benefit.

The WonderLic measures competency in reading, language, spelling and mathematics.  When results are reviewed by a counselor, the student's educational needs can be determined and the appropriate classes can be selected.  These results may also be useful in determining readiness for the GED test.

To schedule this assessment:  Contact Edna Sizemore, 113 Buchanan Hall, 276.964.7239

STAGE

Graduating students at SwVCC are asked to complete STAGE, which is an objective measurement of  general educational outcomes. Questions focus on the elements of Communications, Learning Skills, Critical Thinking, Interpersonal and Human Relations, Computational and Computer Skills, Understanding Culture and Society, Understanding Science and Technology, and Wellness.  STAGE was developed to meet the Virginia Community College System requirement for assessment of student outcomes.
