Grundy native Gurney Norman serves as Director of Creative Writing at the University of Kentucky’s Department of English. He published his first novel, Divine Right’s Trip, in 1971 which was followed by a wealth of short stories, essays, folktales and recorded readings. He is widely recognized for his writing and cultural work in Appalachia and serves as an advisor to community-based arts groups.
