LES BALLARD
1923-2012

The 2012 SWCC Scholarship Golf Classic is played in celebration of the life of Les Ballard.

Les was an avid golfer who played in most all of the 20 tournaments sponsored by SWCC. He and Ballard Insurance Agency have provided the complimentary golf balls for every year’s tournament.

In addition to his love of golf, Les was a serious collector of baseball cards and, of course, he loved the game of baseball. He has amassed thousands of cards over the years, happily handing some of them out to eager young Little League players.

I am sure Les lives on in the hearts of his family, his many friends and is with us today in spirit.

Kayla Sykes“Southwest Virginia Community College has given me the opportunity to attend an excellent facility where my teachers know me by name, while saving thousands of dollars. The Golf Classic Scholarship has helped in that I have not had to take out any student loans thus far. As a student with big goals and dreams, I simply do not have the funds to achieve this. I would like to thank the contributors of this scholarship for helping provide me with money to attend college and pursue my dreams.”
