Driver Training Courses offered fall semester

Defensive Driving Clinic

Southwest will offer the Defensive Driving 8-hour course for the fall semester on the following dates: September 15, October 6, November 3, and December 1, 2012.

The driving clinic is recognized by the Department of Motor Vehicles and the area court/legal system in delivery of the National Safety Council curriculum. Tuition cost for the course is $60.00 for Virginia residents. Individuals attending a driver improvement clinic will learn defensive driving techniques, which can help prevent crashes and assist with points and fines reduction. Weekend Motorcycle Rider Class

Southwest offers a weekend “Learn To Ride Safely Motorcycle Rider Class.” Our next class meet September 28, 29 & 30, 2012.

This course is recognized by the Virginia Motorcycle Safety Foundation and includes a combination of classroom and “hands-On” riding instruction, in a controlled environment. Learn to balance the performance of power, handling, fuel economy and freedom of the open road that motorcycling provides. The college will provide motorcycles and helmets. Tuition cost is $252.00 for In-state residents, which covers use of the motorcycle, fuel, classroom materials and endorsement testing. Successful completion of the class waives the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) road test and /or the written test required to obtain your motorcycle operator’s endorsement on your driver license.
