Marsh Blood Services will have their bloodmobile on our campus Wednesday,
October 3rd, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for blood donations from our faculty,
staff, and students. The blood drive will be set up in the Dickenson Hall
parking lot/stage area this year. Prospective donors must
schedule an appointment in the Admissions Office – T112.
Did you know…
--Someone needs blood every two seconds.
--4.5 million Americans could die each year without life-saving blood
transfusions.
--Only 5% of the population actually donates blood.
--Currently, 60% of blood donors only donate once a year. However, most people
can safely give blood every eight weeks – or every 56 days – as many as five or
six times per year.
Donor requirements include the following:
--Weight of 110 lbs +
--Age 18 +
--No antibiotics for previous 7 days
--No tattoos or piercings in the last year
--Must be healthy the day of the visit (Some conditions such as high
blood pressure which are under control do not deter an individual from
donating.)
