The Southwest Virginia Community College Cooperative Radiography Program recently celebrated its 32nd Radiography Pinning Ceremony at the Virginia Highlands Community College-Higher Education Center, Abingdon, Virginia. These graduates represent students from the Southwest Virginia Community College, Virginia Highlands Community College and Wytheville Community College campuses. Graduates for the Class of 2009 received their pins from program faculty, representing each campus. Jackie Craft, Coordinator of Project EXCEL at VHC , was the keynote speaker for the ceremony. Her presentation challenged the radiography graduates to excel in the performance of their professional duties. She encouraged continued educational advancement and perseverance in their professional maturity toward career development. The program’s 2009 Outstanding Student Award was a posthumous honor given to Larry Acord. Beverly Acord accepted the award for her late husband. This award is presented each year to a deserving student based on input from fellow student radiographers, clinical staff and program faculty. Following the ceremony, the Radiography Class of 2010 hosted a reception for the 2009 graduates, their families, and others in attendance.
