Students Receive National Awards
Southwest Virginia Community College’s PBL students recently attended
the National Leadership Conference held in Anaheim, California. Students
from four- year universities and two-year colleges representing the U.S,
Bahamas, Bermuda, DoDDS Europe, Grand Cayman Islands and the Virgin
Islands competed for the national awards. SWCC students brought home 5
national awards, which was the record number for any of the chapters
from Virginia. James Heifner won first place in Digital Skills and 7th
place in CyberSecurity; James Kulchar won 10th place in Financial
Concepts; Chrystal Hunsaker won 10th place in Financial Analysis and
Decision Making; Miranda Mutter won 9th place in Public Speaking and was
recognized as Who’s Who in PBL.
In addition to the competition at the conference, students attended a
variety of leadership sessions. The trip wouldn’t have been complete
without tours of Disneyworld, Hollywood, Universal Studios, and Beverly
Hills.
