SWCC's Festival of the Arts SOUL Residency

SWCC will be the host to four international singers from the touring group, SOUL - Singers of United Lands. The singers are formally trained and educated vocal musicians from Chile, Kenya, Latvia and South Korea. While they are the guests of SWCC, they will work with area high school choir members, teaching songs from their native countries.

The mission of SOUL is to develop international and cultural relationships through vocal music from around the world. This residency is a part of the annual Festival of the Arts –A Retrospective, 1995-2009! The event is sponsored by SWCC.

The choral workshop will be held Saturday, April 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. , ending with a concert at 3:00 p.m. in the King Community Center. The concert will include a showcase of the high school choir members performing the international songs they have learned.

The guest vocalists will perform as well. SOUL members are Rory Mendez from Chile, Corrine Towett from Kenya, Africa, Martins Kiscenko from Latvia, and Subi Kim from South Korea. Admission is by voluntary donation at the door.
