The popular chamber ensemble, Camerata
Virtuosi New York, will be featured during the Festival of the
Arts – A Retrospective 1995-2009 sponsored by Southwest. The
ensemble will present three different “Happy Anniversary” concerts
as the festival celebrates its fifteenth birthday.
On Wednesday, April 22 at 7:30 p.m., at the Buchanan First Presbyterian Church in Grundy, the concert, Haydn, the Father of Classical Form, will celebrate the 200th Anniversary of Haydn’s death. This evening’s concert will be a musical memorial to the great “Papa” Haydn, tracing his profound and lasting influence over nearly three centuries of composition. Music will be by composers “Papa” and Michael Haydn, Beethoven, Britten, Mozart, Prokofief, Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky. This concert is in association with Community Arts Council of Buchanan County. This chamber ensemble is comprised of nationally and internationally acclaimed musicians violinists Yuri Vodovoz and Georgy Valtchev, Kimberly Wallace, violist, cellist Diliana Momtchilova and pianists Pavlina Dokovska and Vladimir Valjarevic. The ensemble will perform in three different programs in various chamber ensemble combinations. They will be joined by internationally acclaimed soprano Stefka Evstatieva in all three concerts. Additional concerts by Camerata Virtuosi New York will be Tuesday, April 21 at the Bluefield, WV, First Presbyterian Church and on Thursday, April 23 at Honaker Baptist Church.
