Southwest will present
FOOTWORKS Percussive Dance Ensemble in Incredible Feets.
The performance will be at 7:30
p.m., Friday, April 17, at the King Community Center. Admission is
by voluntary donation at the door. The performance is a part of the
Festival of the Arts: A Retrospective-1995-2009 sponsored by SWCC in
celebration of the Festival’s 15th Anniversary.
FOOTWORKS Percussive Dance Ensemble will present a uniquely
American story: an exuberant fusion of live music, comedy, singing
and a dazzling array of percussive dance forms rooted in different
cultures. Their dance, music and dialogue will tell the story of the
many people who came to this land bringing their rhythms and
melodies, steps and dances, who met each other here to create a
living tradition.
Celtic and English fiddle and dance traditions met with Native
American, African and African American music and dance, resulting in
American percussive dance forms such as clogging and tap. This is
our celebration of the strength and beauty of our culture and the
common ground between cultures. For additional Festival information,
