Outlook is Excellent for Careers in Accounting

Since accounting is a major component of almost every industry, the outlook for accounting careers is excellent. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the number of accounting jobs is expected to grow by 12% through 2016. Accounting careers are diverse and financially rewarding. Accounting professionals can work for major corporations, financial institutions, medical facilities, retail stores, government agencies or own and operate their own business. In addition to students enrolling in a traditional path towards a degree in accounting, many older adults are adding an extra skill set to their resumes by taking classes such as Federal Taxation, where they gain hands-on experience in tax preparation. Registration for fall semester is in progress. SVCC can be the first step to a career in accounting.
