The Computer Learning Center’s Microsoft Authorized Testing Center at Southwest Virginia Community College (SwVCC) is among the top seven beta testing centers. According to Certiport Beta Exam Coordinator, Anthony Berrett, there are 155 testing centers participating in the Office 2007 beta testing. Each time Microsoft releases a new version of Office, Certiport stays up-to-date, by developing new certification exams, and this year they started a new program called Microsoft Business Applications. When an individual successfully completes an Office 2007 certification exam in one of the following programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, or Access, the certificate will be entitled, Microsoft Certified Applications Specialist (MCAS). For more information about the programs, visit http://www.certiport.com or http://www.microsoft.com .
One high achiever, Patricia Fuller is glad to try out the new exams, because after the beta testing is complete, if Certiport determines her score is a passing score, she will receive an official certification for that program. Recently, she was among the participants who have taken PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, and Word 2007. Fuller confirms that, “Certifications are so important in the IT world and I attribute much of my success to previous certifications, especially to my recent employment at CGI”. Many other SwVCC faculty, staff, and students have earned certifications by participating in the free testing offered by Certiport.
