Benjamin Price, a Pre-Pharmacy major at Southwest Virginia Community College, has been selected to participate in the International Scholar Laureate Program Delegation on Medicine during the summer of 2007. This unparalleled opportunity allows future medical professionals to work with practitioners, researchers and innovators from around the globe. Price has chosen to visit India, including the All India Institute of Medical Sciences where he will network with Indian students and faculty while studying the key medical issues and challenges that India expects to encounter in the future. Price will also examine India’s alternative health care, including ayurvedic, unani and homeopathic medicines, and the role yoga plays in mind-body healing.
Price was a 2005 honors graduate of Abingdon High School and has also excelled during his tenure at SwVCC. While maintaining a 4.0 average, he has participated in the Honors Seminar and the Science Learning Community and has served as a science tutor. Price’s accomplishments have not gone unrecognized; he was inducted into both Phi Theta Kappa and the National Honor Society.
Price has worked as a pharmacy technician since the age of fourteen, and he plans to attend the University of Appalachia College of Pharmacy upon graduation from Southwest Virginia Community College.
