The Southwest Virginia Community College chapter of Phi Beta Lambda (PBL)
attended the 53rd Annual State Leadership Conference where members competed in
business events with other college students from across the state. Five of the
seven members attending the conference placed in their events.
Katrina Large of Tazewell won first place in Accounting Principles. Second place
in Accounting Principles went to Margaret Dye of Richlands. Andrew Lyalls of
Haysi placed third in Accounting for Professionals. First place in Word
Processing went to Dreama Campbell of Honaker. Kelly White of Council won third
place in Business Communications. Brandon Boyd of Council was nominated for
Who’s Who in PBL. SwVCC competed against eight four-year colleges and
universities and four community colleges.
While in Richmond, members toured the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and the
Science Museum of Virginia. They also toured Natural Bridge.
Phi Beta Lambda is the premier student business association. The mission of the
business fraternity is to bring business and education together in a positive
working relationship through innovative leadership and career development
programs.
Phi Beta Lambda is open for membership to any SwVCC student carrying at least
six (6) credits with a 2.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) or better. For more information
