Open Call for Entries: Holiday Arts & Crafts Showcase at the SwVCC Appalachian Arts Center

This winter/holiday season the SwVCC Appalachian Arts Center is filling its front galleries with winter and holiday themed work. There are many individuals in the region who make beautiful holiday arts & crafts. If you make seasonal work and are interested in selling it at the Appalachian Arts Center this winter, we would love to see your work!

Some holiday ideas to consider: small quilted wall hangings; quilted or fabric advent calendars; ornaments: felt, beaded, ceramic, wood, crochet, etc.; stockings: felt or wool; fabric/ quilted tree skirts; knitwear; hats, scarves, mittens; handmade baskets; handmade Christmas cards; natural wreaths; and any other unique holiday items.

If you are interested in selling holiday items at the Arts Center, a jurying session will be held for all submissions to be considered for exhibit and sale. A panel of three arts professionals will jury all submitted work based on quality of craftsmanship, design, marketability and originality. All work must be handmade. Items to be considered must be received by October 31, 2007.

Please include contact information, pricing information (including a 30% Arts Center commission) on all work submitted. If the work is in fiber please include care instructions. Also, include a little information yourself so that we may share it with interested customers.

The SwVCC Appalachian Arts Center is located in the Old Archie Helton Store on Rt 19 at Wardell. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information, please call 276.596.9188.
