Metalinc Services

Return to Services

The VCCS is adding a new service to its Electronic Library Services. The service is called MetaLinc and consists of two components:
First component:
SFX is a journal locator service.   Basically, when you search any of the many abstract and index (A&I) databases, e.g. CINAHL, or PsycInfo, you will now see this icon Lincit.  When you click on the icon, a connection will be made to a MetaLinc database and it will determine whether we have access to the electronic version of the journal that you found in the A&I database.  If we do license that database, you will link to it.
Second component:
MetaLib is a cross-database search engine.  Basically, this service will allow you to search several of our electronic databases simultaneously.   It will also provide a searchable database of our collection of electronic resources and provide subject groupings of this collection.  Try it!  Access requires a directory id and password login.  For those patrons without a directory id try the guest version.

Please note that viewing and printing PDF files requires access on your computer to
Adobe Acrobat Reader.  This program can be downloaded from the following address:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html.

Library page banners depict art work by Johnny Hagerman. The sculptures can be viewed in the Earl E. & Dorothy J. Dellinger Learning Resources building.
