Education Support Specialist III (Grant Funded Position)

The Grant Specialist will report to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement and is responsible for planning, writing, editing, and preparing grant applications to external funding agencies. 

 

Responsibilities:

· Assists in designing programs responsive to identified institutional needs and securing funding to operate these programs;

· Initiates and/or conducts interdepartmental meetings to identify and prioritize projects and to coordinate and research grant preparation assignments;

· Assists in researching data, developing, writing, editing, and submitting funding proposals; reviews and edits draft applications from other staff to ensure accuracy, completeness and clarity;

· Monitors all programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and private grant or contract regulations, including monitoring budgets, writing reports and completing other appropriate compliance related tasks as assigned;

· Seeks out new potential sources of funding;

· Conducts surveys, research, data analysis, evaluation, and assessment activities;

· Maintains liaison with appropriate funding agency specialists and grant partners;

· Conducts proposal writing workshops to train faculty and staff to develop proposals;

· Performs other job related duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.  Must have professional grant writing experience, preferably at a community college.  Must have experience in grant development and application procedures; must have experience in the interpretation of federal or government laws, rules and regulations as they apply to contracts and grants.  Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Must have strong computer experience in software programs such as MS Word and Excel; must have strong grammatical, spelling, and proofreading skills, verbal and technical writing skills; and a general knowledge of accounting procedures and budget development and administration.
