Please remember that Southwest Virginia Community College is not located in the Town of Richlands. The College is on U. S. Route 19 South, six miles south of Claypool Hill, traveling in the direction of Bristol. From Pikeville, Kentucky, take Route 460 East toward Grundy, Virginia, and remain on Route 460 past Richlands until the intersection of Route 460/Route 19.  Take Route 19 South (you will see signs pointing to the right for Southwest Virginia Community College).  This intersection is located in an area called Claypool Hill, and from that point the college is approximately 6 miles south on Route 19.  We are on the left-hand side of the road.  Enter at the main entrance (stone sign).

From Charleston, West Virginia, take I-77 South.  You have two options: you can either get off at Princeton and take Route 460W/19S straight to the Claypool Hill area, where you continue straight on Route19 South 6 miles to the college, or at Princeton you can go a little farther on I-77 and get off at Bluefield (before the East River Mountain tunnel).  Take Route 52 (an access road) to the Route 460/19 intersection, and then continue to the Claypool Hill area.  It is approximately 50 miles to the college from the Bluefield/Princeton area.

From the Roanoke, Virginia area, take Route 460 West in Christiansburg to Princeton, West Virginia, where you take I-77 South to Bluefield.  Before reaching the East River Mountain Tunnel, take exit #1, and turn right onto Route 52 (this is an access road leading to Route 19/460). At the end of the access road, turn left onto Route 19/460 towards Tazewell.  Continue past Bluefield and Tazewell, to the small community of Claypool Hill.  At the stoplight in Claypool Hill the highway divides.  Continue straight on 19 South.  The College is approximately six miles from the stoplight, and on the left side of the road.

From the Roanoke, Virginia area, take Route 460 West in Christiansburg to Princeton, West Virginia, where you continue on 19 South/460 West.  Go past Bluefield and Tazewell, to the small community of Claypool Hill.  At the stoplight in Claypool Hill the highway divides.  Continue straight on 19 South.  The College is approximately six miles from the stoplight, and on the left side of the road.

rom the Roanoke, Virginia area, continue on I-81 south to Wytheville.  In Wytheville, take I-77 North to Bluefield.  Take exit #1 immediately after the East River Mountain tunnel (you may want to stay in the right hand lane while in the tunnel) onto Route 52 (this is an access road leading to Route 19/460).  At the end of the access road, turn left onto Route 19/460 towards Tazewell.  Continue past Bluefield and Tazewell, to the small community of Claypool Hill.  At the stoplight in Claypool Hill the highway divides.  Continue straight on 19 South.  The College is approximately six miles from the stoplight, and on the left side of the road.

From Tri-Cities Airport, Blountville, Tennessee:  Leaving Tri-Cities Airport, take I-81 north to Abingdon, Virginia.  Take exit 14 into Abingdon to Main Street (approximately half mile).  Turn right on Main Street and go to second traffic light then make a left turn on to Route 19.  Follow Route 19 approximately 40 miles to Southwest Virginia Community College.

From the Abingdon, Virginia area, travel U. S. Route 19 North.    The college is located on the right-hand side of the road, just past the Russell/Tazewell County line.
