Welcome
to Southwest Virginia Community College! SwVCC is a part of the Virginia Community College System and is located in the southwestern portion of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Nestled at the foot of the majestic Clinch Mountains, SwVCC has a campus of 100 acres of hills and rolling valleys. Southwest opened in 1968 and serves the counties of Buchanan, Dickenson (partial), Russell and Tazewell.

importance to the College and many services, such as the
Workforce Development Program,
the
Small Business
Development Center and the
Procurement Technical
Assistance Program, are provided to assist in
efforts to bring a diversified economic base to the region. The
Tazewell Area Chamber of

SwVCC offers ongoing support to many initiatives in the service region to promote economic growth and plays a vital role in assistance to small businesses. As examples, the Business Division is responsive in support of business and industry such as CGI-AMS and Northrop Grumman. |
The Southwest Virginia Community College Educational Foundation was founded in 1981 as a means of seeking needed funding for the college and students. The Foundation’s purpose is to support the mission of the college and to help meet the needs of and provide opportunities for students, faculty and staff.
The Festival of the Arts is SwVCC's annual event that focuses on a different country or region and its cultural treasures each year. Visit the Festival Website and make plans to be a part of some of the events of this year's festival, which focuses on the culture of Africa and Her Legacy. Southwest's Community Chorus, under the direction of Joseph Trivette, is a vital part of each Festival and is open to everyone.
The Appalachian Arts Center is located on Route 19 just three miles from the main campus of Southwest Virginia Community College. The 4000 square foot ground floor serves as both an exhibition space and a marketplace featuring the work of local crafts people and fine artists.
SwVCC has developed a sister college relationship with Aberdeen College in Scotland which has provided enrichment and fellowship in our educational community.
