Interview Do's and Don'ts from Local Employers

DO:

Research the company before the interview

Project an "I mean BUSINESS" image

Dress and conduct yourself as if you were a member of the company team even when picking up an application (You may get to interview that day!)

USE PROPER GRAMMAR

Shake hands using a firm/squeeze handshake

Be friendly, smile, and connect with the interviewer (and others)

Be attentive (good eye contact)

Be prepared for interviewer asking:
…What you would do in a situation…?
…How you would solve a certain problem…?
…What is something you are proud of…? What are your strengths...?

Let them know what you can do to add value to their company or organization! 

DO NOT:

Have “typo’s” on your resume

Chew gum

Wear a baseball cap to the interview

Let nervousness defeat you

Panic when you make a mistake (show them you can recover from mistakes)
