Interview Do's and Don'ts from Local Employers

DO:

  • Research the company before the interview

  • Project an "I mean BUSINESS" image

  • Dress and conduct yourself appropriately even when picking up an application 
        (You  may get to interview that day!)

  • USE PROPER GRAMMAR

  • Shake hands using a firm/squeeze handshake

  •  Be friendly, smile, and connect with the interviewer (and others)

  • Be attentive (good eye contact)

  • Be prepared for interviewer asking:
       
         …What you would do in a situation…?
       
         …How you would solve a certain problem…?  
           
    …What is something you are proud of…?                                                           ....What are your strengths...?

  
  •  Let them know what you can do to add value to their company 
        or organization!

 

DO NOT:

  • Have “typo’s” on your resume

  • Chew gum

  • Wear a baseball cap to the interview

  • Let nervousness defeat you

  • Panic when you make a mistake (show them you can recover from mistakes)
