Virginia's Education Wizard Instructions to Students

A new tool has been developed to help students navigate the process of selecting careers, finding majors, estimating the cost of college, finding and applying for financial aid and scholarships, indentify transfer pathways, and planning for transfer from a community college to a four-year institution. Use the instructions below to navigate the site.

User Login
SWCC Students: Use your SIS Usename and Paso to: www.VaWizard.org  and login using the same username and password that you use to access Blackboard.

2. Explore the Career section

· Take the Interest Assessment, view your results, and select on occupations to see Occupation Profiles ­– select on +add majors and +add occupations if you find majors and programs that you like

· Take the Values Assessment, view your results, and select on occupations to see Occupation Profiles

3. Go next to the Paying for College section

· Check out the Cost Calculator tool and use the tabs to review tuition and fees at community colleges, compare the cost of colleges throughout the state, and potential transfer savings

· Go next to the Award Estimator Tool and enter information to receive an award estimate

· Then go to the Applying for Aid section to review the steps necessary to apply for financial aid

· Before leaving the Paying for College section, select Scholarships to conduct a personalized scholarship search- select on +add scholarships if you like a scholarship that you find


4. If you plan to a transfer to a four-year college or university, select on the Transfer section from the top menu. If not, go to step 5.

· Begin by conducting a search of the Transfer Agreements- select on +add transfer agreement if you like a transfer agreement that you find

· Next, conduct a search of the Guaranteed Admission Agreements- select on +add guaranteed admission agreement if you find an agreement that you like

· Finish out your visit to the Transfer section by completing the Transfer Planner

5. Now is a good time to check out your Profile by selecting on the Profile link at the top right of the screen

· While you are here, review the items in your profile and then select on View Full Profile at the bottom right of the Profile area

· From the Full Profile, you can add colleges, change the primary college in your profile and review all of your information
