MEC 161 BASIC FLUID MECHANICS - HYDRAULICS/PNEUMATICS (3-4 cr.) Introduces theory, operation and maintenance of hydraulic/pneumatics devices and systems. Emphasizes the properties of fluids, fluid flow, fluid statics, and the application of Bernouli’s equation. Lecture 2-3 hours. Laboratory 2-3 hours. Total 4-6 hours per week. |

MEC 165 APPLIED HYDRAULICS, PNEUMATICS, AND HYDROSTATICS (3 cr.) Teaches fluid power system design, operation, testing, maintenance and repair. Includes reservoirs, pump connecting valves, cylinders, pressure regulating valves, flow control valves, hydraulic motors, and introduction to basic hydrostatic hydraulic systems. Lecture 2 hours.
